Our goal is simple: get more books into the hands of more kids across the country, funded by state investment — not by families. When more children learn to read before entering the school system, states save significant costs. With only 15% reduction in the number of children entering school with literacy risk, the book program can pay for itself multiple times over. As early literacy improves, fewer children may require costly intervention after entering school, and the potential savings can grow as each participating group of children progresses through school.
